Active Bystanders – Kaupapa Māori research project
This project seeks to develop a Kaupapa Māori Theory of Change which will inform effective bystander interventions for wahine Māori within construction and infrastructure sectors.
The issue
While it is well-recognised that sexual harassment occurs in the construction and infrastructure sectors, there is little around the actions that bystanders can take to reduce these behaviours with a te ao Māori lens.
Intended outcomes
- A Theory of Change, grounded in te ao Māori, which will be available for organisations to implement
- A series of recommended changes or improvements to employer policy settings
- Bystander training recommendations.
The steps
- Step 1: Literature review – March 2024
- Step 2: Data gathering – questionnaire and series of focus groups – April 2024
- Step 3: Draft Theory of Change – June 2024
