ConCOVE Executive Director Katherine Hall is pleased to hear the news of the government’s continued investment in improving this important sector for Aotearoa New Zealand.

“A renewed construction sector transformation plan that is so aligned to the key projects of the ConCOVE Tūhura is positive news for us, and we’re looking forward to working more closely with the Accord to deliver to vocational outcomes that support a thriving sector”, she said.

Board Co-Chairs Phil Hokianga and Graham Burke also welcomed the news, with Phil saying “The investment in improving outcomes for Māori and Māori business via the Accord sets a strong vision for us to align our kaupapa to. Vocational education has a role to play in supporting a strong Māori construction ecosystem and ensuring equity and inclusion for our people”. Graham Burke, also a current member of the Accord’s Steering Group, supports the focus on strengthening capability of the sector. “Small to medium businesses are the backbone of construction and infrastructure.
